“Purified by Demineralization” is a photo series I created inspired by photographer Mo Devlin. In this series my intent is to present nature’s everyday beauty in a new, surprising, and unique way. By freezing various flowers in distilled water, each flower gets abstracted by the icy trails created by the freezing process. Photographing these blocks of ice with a controlled studio setting allowed me to play with shadows and highlights. These up-close abstractions of nature are meant to encompass the viewer’s attention on the non-traditional aspects of flowers.
